Secretary, Northeast & Kerela, Indian Youth Congress, Midul Gogoi alleged that the Nagaland government was misusing and misappropriating funds from central schemes. On his maiden visit to Nagaland, the secretary earlier held a meeting with the executive members of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC). He also disclosed that the AIYC at centre has received information on the state government failure and misuse of various funds under NREGA, PMGSY etc.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday at Amity restaurant, Dimapur Gogoi informed that a mass membership drive would be taken up among the youths’ from all over the state through road shows. Gogoi also stressed on idea of “Aam Admi Ka Sipahi” and stated that it was necessary to know the ground realities and enlighten people about RTI act, NREGA and various other central schemes. Pointing out that AIDS control programme was very important, the secretary informed that tie ups with NGOs in Delhi to create awareness and stated that it in the priority list of agendas. Gogoi also expressed full faith in the NPYC president of strengthening the party. Later he also disclosed that general secretary, AICC, Rahul Gandhi would be visiting Assam very soon and also revealed that invitation would be extended to him to visit Nagaland and see the ground realities.
Earlier the meeting was attended by president, NPYC Kuputo Shohe, vice-presidents, general secretaries along with other executive members while the secretary was accompanied by secretary, Assam Youth Congress, Indrajit.
