Convening Body of Teachers under DIS Niuland disappointed by the decision of the authority to withhold their salaries since February last has again urged the government to release their pending salaries like other teachers, who despite of verification by SIT were receiving salaries. Pointing out that they were “desperately” fighting for basic needs, with their “acute problem” multiplying each day, the convening body chairperson Kaheli said they have been denied privileges despite of their sincere effort and service towards the students’ community. Highlighting their “legitimate demand”, the aggrieved teachers said they were also appointed by the authority like any other government employees, adding that they receive salaries through government treasury like others. Further, it stated that they too possess government identity card issued by the head of department with employee code number. Underlining their demands, the teachers felt that authority appointing and allocating funds should shoulder responsibility if there was any anomaly in the department.
