NSCN (I-M) has refuted reports by a news agency emanating from Assam regarding the July 3 encounter which was carried by the media by maintaining that none of its activists was killed or injured in North Cachar Hills on July 3 during an encounter with the Indian Army. The MIP of the NSCN(I-M) termed the report as “baseless and fabricated” and nothing but a desperate attempt to malign its name by vested elements. The MIP/GPRN also said that none of its activists were deployed or involved in any incident in NC Hills. The NSCN(I-M) said that the ongoing turmoil caused by ethnic clash in NC Hills only involved DHD (J), Zeme public volunteers and Indian Army. “The NSCN/GPRN has no hand in it whatsoever,” it asserted. The NSCN (I-M) said that it has so far maintained utmost restraint in honoring the time honored peaceful co-existence between the Nagas and the Cacharis since time immemorial. “Those vested elements are inviting the fury of the NSCN/GPRN to add fuel to the fire to the already burning issue which is totally uncalled for,” said the MIP. It also advised the media to cross check any information before publication to avoid giving misinformation that was detrimental to the Naga society.
