Nagaland University Teachers’ Association (NUTA) observing serious violation of University Act, Statutes and recruitment rules of academic faculty appointments has served an ultimatum to Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor (V-C) and Executive Council (EC) chairman Prof. K Kannan and demanded him to immediately revoke all “illegal and irregular decisions” within 14 days. In a five-point ultimatum to EC chairman, the Central Executive Council (CEC) NUTA president Rosemary Dzuvichu and secretary general N Venuh pointed out that he has violated recruitment rules by bringing the names of ten candidates in the category of lecturer without the knowledge and verification of the concerned departments. The NUTA also questioned the consideration of applications for posts advertised after the last date of receipt. It strongly objected V-C for approving Ordinances, Regulations and Rules of NU before the minutes of Academic Council (AC) could be released to the AC members for perusal. The teachers also questioned the decision of the EC for authorizing advertisement of teaching and non teaching posts. Meanwhile, the NUTA has demanded EC chairman to convene an emergency executive council within fourteen days. (Full text on page 4)
