Based on information that the school education department has decided to appoint three graduate teachers each in newly upgraded 60 Government Middle Schools (GMS), under SSA, particularly arts, science and mathematics teachers, without conducting interviews, the NSF on Tuesday demanded that the appointment be put on hold till “unbiased interviews” were held. In a letter to additional chief secretary school education, NSF president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu and secretary education Ahito Achumi demanded that candidates with professional degree and with experience either in private or government schools be given preference. NSF also demanded that preference be given to “local native” candidates for those upgraded GMS in villages. The NSF demanded that interview board be constituted with one member from “an apex civil societies/NGO”. It also cautioned that denial of opportunities would be read as an act of injustice, and that it would be compelled to define the cause in most “aggressively democratic manner.” “Any undue consequences, as a result of championing justice, will be answerable by the federation,” the NSF leaders asserted.
