Pfutsero Town Traders Union (PTTU) has lauded the home minister for his concern and stand against taxation in the state. PTTU president Vesapa Cheiro stated that traders community for long time had being facing lots of problem due to heavy taxes levied to traders. The union expressed hope that all its expectations would be fulfilled in the coming days. Meanwhile, Phek District Timber Association (PDTA) has extended support to Nagaland Timber Traders Union for their firm stand and support of Home Minister regarding the tax issue. PDTA in a press statement issued by its president Sanyi Dukru, stated it was in favour and would follow the resolution taken by NTTU to suspend timber transportation which was effective from July 5. PDTA further appealed to forest minister to follow up the request made by the timber union regarding problems and help the traders to have a better functioning of the business. The association also requested the Dist. District Forest Officer (DFO) to allot ‘Working Scheme’ in every district at the earliest and also to maintain and issue a proper ‘challan system’ for smooth operation of business for both timber and pine roots traders. The association informed that pine root traders, which as of now were supplied only from Phek district, faced lot of problem as they were not issued/given any challan, for which most of the pine roots had to be given out on credit.
