Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Kohima (ENPUK), Eastern Nagaland Women Organization Kohima (ENWOK), Eastern Nagaland Students Union Kohima (ENSUK) and tribal units of eastern Nagaland Kohima held a consultative meeting on July 4 and resolved that ENPUK would not encourage/permit rampant employment/trafficking of eastern Nagas as housemaids by various tribes in and around Kohima. ENPUK said it would not in any manner compromise with underage employment of eastern Nagas and stated in certain unavoidable cases, a person wishing to employ house maid from eastern Nagaland has been directed to do so with the approval of the responsible tribal union of the employee after proper verification and registration. Persons doing so without the approval of the tribal unions shall be doing so at their own risk and the unions would not be responsible for any untoward incidents. The unions has also directed all who have employed/engaged people from eastern Nagaland in their houses in any manner to report to the responsible tribal union office bearers for proper verification and registration within 30 days from the date of issue of this notice. Defaulters would be held responsible for any untoward incidents in future.
