Sarathi and Vahan, the new IT system of issuing and registration of driving license and vehicles were launched at District Transport Office (DTO), Mon by SDO civil Mon Sadar, Hiazu Meru on July 3.
Addressing the gathering SDO civil called upon the staff of DTO office Mon to discharge their assigned duties and responsibilities sincerely with the new technology system availed in the office for the welfare of the public. He said the purpose of launching Sarathi and Vahan by the government was to maintain transparency and responsibility in the working system of the government department. He expressed hope that with the new input of technology the working system of the department would improve and challenged the staff to earn good reputation and respect for the district. He also appreciated the well maintained office of the DTO Mon.
Explaining the technical application, Lanusungkum Aier, principal system analyst, NIC, Kohima said policy of introducing Vahan and Sarathi was to maintain systematic functioning of establishment with more responsibility, transparency and accountability, and advised the staff to be more careful with spelling while entering name and numbers in the system.
Earlier, welcome address and introductory speech was proposed by Phukhavi Sumi, DTO, Mon while vote of thanks was pronounced by Imkumwabang, MTI. According to an official bulletin, Mon is the fourth district in the state next to Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung equipped with new IT system, a first of its kind in the district.
