The proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has called for 12-hour Assam bandh on Thursday in protest against the alleged killing of two of their leaders in custody. ULFA chairman Aurobindo Rajkhowa issued a statement today through e-mail alleging that two of their cadres Debajit Chetia and Dulal Barua were killed in custody by the Army, UNI reported. Both of them were killed yesterday morning in an encounter in Nagaon district. The statement, however, alleged that both were arrested on June 10 and were killed yesterday by the Army. He also alleged that at least 17 National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants were killed in similar fashion. This is the first Assam bandh call by the outfit in more than six months.
