Planning and coordination department and State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Government of Nagaland jointly organized a three day sensitization for village functionaries on human development under United Nation Development programme (UNDP) GOI Project from June 22 at LTC hall Wokha.
According to an official bulletin, the programme was inaugurated by Wokha deputy commissioner Wepretso Mero.
Addressing the gathering Wokha deputy commissioner Wepretso Mero stressed on the need to sensitize the village functionaries on the importance and need for human development and helping the village functionaries to consider the human development aspect while planning and implementing development programmes.
Programme Director, Dr. Kedits Pucho while giving a brief course outline said that to strengthen the state plan for human development, the Nagaland Government would be launching sensitization programme on GOI/UNDP.
Under this project, the work plan would be capacity building at the village functionaries to create awareness and to understand the concept and issues of human development, human development index, gender issues and budgeting. This programme would be conducted at the district/block level in the entire state.
In the second session the Programme Director delivered a speech on capacity building for officials and non-officials under NREGs, concept and approach of human development, United Nation Development programme (UNDP) human development report, decentralizing participatory planning, sustainable livelihood, village micro-planning, concept of gender issues.
Interaction were also held amongst the officials and the village functionaries comprising of village council chairmen, VDB secretaries and women representatives.
The inauguration programme was chaired by Project Officer DRDA Wokha, Thungchamo Khuvung, while welcome address was delivered by Project Director DRDA, Tsukjem Allinger and vote of thanks was proposed by BDO, Atu Imsong.
Around 200 participants attended the programme.
