In view of the pandemic of H1N1 flu (Swine flu), the Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Nagaland with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare official on June 10 held an emergency meeting to discuss the preparedness plan of the department. The meeting resolved to immediately equip the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of Dimapur district, Mokokchung and Kohima district with PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment), N95 Respirator, and Tamiflu to be followed by the other districts.
A meeting of all the District Surveillance Officer, IDSP and the Rapid Response Team (RRT) was also called on June 12 wherein the need for coordination with the allied department at the district level for surveillance of H1N1 flu and the action to be initiated in case of suspected H1N1 flu was deliberated.
According to principal director, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. V. Sekhose, PPE, N95 respirator, and Tamiflu were also distributed to the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of Dimapur, Mokokchung and Kohima district.
On June 18, a co-ordination meeting to assess the level of preparedness of the Government to H1N1 flu was convened by the Chief Secretary, government of Nagaland which was attended by officials from the Department of Health and family Welfare and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, the administration, police department and the Kohima Municipal Corporation. The meeting was chaired by the Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, who dwell on the needs to set up co-ordination system among all the allied department so that prompt response could be initiated collectively in a timely manner as and when the need arise. Each department official conveyed their preparedness to tackle the H1N1 (Swine Flu).
Meanwhile, in a meeting, a state Level Monitoring Team for H1N1 flu (Swine Flu) was formed consisting of Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry , Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, Administration, police and Kohima Municipal Corporation to be headed by the Commissioner and Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland.
