Indian army has invited outstanding sportsmen and 10+2 qualified male candidates from all Northeast Zone to enroll into different categories during army recruitment rally to be conducted on July 15 from 6 am at football ground, Senapati (Manipur).
According to a defence release, a candidate should be Class VIII passed for the post of soldier general duties, 10+2 PCM simple pass with pass marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and with 6/6 vision in both eyes also for soldier general duties, minimum Class VIII passed for soldier tradesman, simple pass in Class XII with pass marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for soldier technical, Class XII passed with 50 % overall marks and not less than 40 % in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for soldier nursing assistant and for which candidates who have passed B. Sc with Botany, Zoology or Bio-Sciences, marks of Class XII would not be required.
The defence release also stated that for soldier clerk/storekeeper technical, a candidate should be Class XII passed with 50 % overall marks and not less than 40 % in English and the core (main) subjects and should have studied and passed Mathematics or Book Keeping or Accounting at Class X level.
For graduate or higher qualified candidates, the marks of Class XII would also not be required Age criterion included the cut off dates between January 14, 1992, and July 14, 1988, for soldier GD including 10+2 PCM entry and between January 14, 1992, and July 14, 1986, for all categories, for which there is no relaxation in age for any category.
Requirement for heights are a minimum 157cms for soldier technical and NA, 170cms for soldier GD (10+2 PCM), 160cms for all other categories while dispensation in height upto 2cms could be given to sportsmen.
Only sportsmen who have won gold or silver medals at state or higher levels in recognized sports and games during the last two years could appear for screening and can be considered for any of the mentioned categories including soldier GD and soldier tradesman for which successful candidates would be enrolled against quotas of their respective states.
The defence release further added the candidates should be in possession of their original documents, a Photostat copy of the same and 12 recent and clear passport photograph in light coloured shirts.
Written exam for screened fit candidates for all categories other than soldier nursing assistant and soldier clerk/storekeeper technical would be held at Senapati on July 26 while written exam for the remaining two categories would be held at Rangapahar (Dimapur) on August 30.
