Drawing attention of the plight of the residents of Niuland sub- division and its surrounding villages caused by the frequent power-cuts for the last few months, the Niuland Area Students Union (NASU) has questioned the department on what was the actual cause of regular power- cut. A press statement issued by Niuland Area Students Union president Pekingto Y. Zhimo stated that ‘frequent indiscriminate’ power-cut in Niuland and its surrounding villages had made people’s life miserable. According to the union, cutting of power lines for every little drizzle, mere lighting or even weakest of wind had become a routine and for which, educational institutions, offices, households and business centers were “grimly hit” by power-cuts. Union has therefore appealed to the government to take suitable measures to restore normalcy and to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
