Nagaland Home Minister Imkong L.Imchen Wednesday accused Assam of not acting like a friendly neighbour by continuing encroachment into Nagaland. Addressing media persons here, Imchen alleged that Assam had so far encroached about 6 to 7 square Kms inside Nagaland border under Mokokchung and Longleng districts. He said despite protest letters issued by the state commissioner to the Assam counterpart, the Union Home Ministry and also the Supreme Court Assam has not even acknowledged the letters. Imchen said though there were many border agreements with Assam, yet the state never honoured them but continues to establish several Police outposts including an armed police battalion in the disputed areas. Imchen also disclosed that he along with other legislators and state police top brass will meet with leaders of Ao and Phom tribes Thursday in Tuli to discuss issues relating to the border areas.
