ID card for scribes

To protest against the killing of Zeme Nagas, the Naga Hoho in association with Naga Council Dimapur would organise a Public Rally June 29 at Dimapur. The Naga Council has informed all affiliated tribal units and its respective members to join the rally to demonstrate solidarity for the suffering Zemes. Further, it has also sought participation of all peace-loving citizens and well wishers of Dimapur. KOHIMA, JUN 24 (NPN): A joint meeting comprising of state police, Information and Public Relations (IPR) department and media fraternity Wednesday suggested introduction of security identity card for media persons in the state and also for strict measure to check misuse and abuse of “PRESS” tag. The proposed security ID card for journalist will have multi-purpose including access to restricted areas and during VVIP visits. The card is proposed to be jointly issued by state police and press members after proper verification. The joint meet also thoroughly deliberated on rampant abuse and misuse of the ‘PRESS’ tag by various elements in the state and decided to introduce official PRESS sticker. A committee consisting of members from state Police, IPR department and media fraternity was constituted and entrusted to work out modalities for both the security ID card and Press sticker. The meeting convened by state DGP K Kire at DGP conference hall, PHQ was attended by host of officials from PHQ, IPR and several media persons. (Correspondent)
