Flu isolation ward

District Hospital Dimapur has been identified as ‘Isolation ward’ for confirmation and management of H1N1 Influenza (Swine flu) cases. The ward was constituted by a team comprising of Dr. Ritu Thurr, deputy CMO, Dr. R. Chilie, DIO, Dr, Temsu and Dr. Bendang at a workshop conducted to sensitise all medical officers under chief medical officer and medical superintendent of Dimapur on H1N1 Influenza (Swine flu) at the office of medical superintendent Thursday. According to IEC media officer Kimnei, during the workshop medical officers were sensitised on guidelines to be followed to identify suspected case and collection and storage of specimen. All suspected cases are to be referred to district hospital for treatment or confirmation. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), on June 24 about 55,867 laboratory confirmed cases of influenza A infection were reported from 108 countries. There have been 238 deaths, mostly from Mexico and the US. Assam governor dead NEW DELHI, JUN 25 (PTI): Assam Governor Shiv Charan Mathur died of cardiac arrest here tonight. Mathur, 83, was undergoing treatment at the Escorts Heart Institute here for the past seven days. He was discharged this morning but he complained of uneasiness in the evening. “He was shifted to the Fortis Hospital here where he breathed his last at 8.15 pm,” Assam’s Resident Commissioner Devender Kumar told PTI. Mathur, who assumed charge as governor of Assam on July 4, 2008, is survived by his wife. He was chief minister of Rajasthan twice -- 1981-85 and 1988-89.
