As June 29 marks the end of ‘Year of St. Paul’, Pastoral Centre, Diocese of Kohima organized a-two day ‘Pauline exhibition’ Sunday at Holy Cross Church, Dimapur with Most Rev. Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal as chief guest and Rev. Zhabu Terhuja, former NBCC secretary as guest of honour.
The exhibition depicted the journey, mission, suffering and apostolic life of St. Paul and the apostle as a missionary who sacrificed his life for the love of Christ. Choreography on life of St. Paul before the conversion, Saul and Ananias’, his escape from Damascus’, plea to apostles, his life in Gentiles’ world and suffering were also displayed to mark the conclusion of the ‘Year of St. Paul.’ 16 institutions consisting of various religious congregations, formation houses and schools collectively to presented the ever relevant message, mission and the life of Paul, where people admired the exhibition with much interest and longing.
Inaugurating the exhibition, guest of honour, Rev. Theruja explained on the life of St. Paul who dedicated his life to Christ. He said St. Paul was recognized as a learned man who committed to the life of the poor and that he never disobeyed the heavenly vision. He also said, to Paul, the greatest missionary who was responsible to make Christianity a global religion and added that the dedication of one year in his name by the Catholic Church was a fitting tribute. Thus, he called upon the gathering to emulate the missionary life of St. Paul.
To close the Year of St. Paul observed throughout the world a flurry of activities are underway in the Catholic Church, Nagaland. The Pauline Exhibition, Bible Relay, Pauline Musical and releasing of audio CDs and a book titled Bible Reading Check - are some of them.The CDs ‘To all the world’ was released by Rev. Theruja, ‘Aza Ala Kiche Kutsüu’, a CD in Sema dialect was released by Rev. Fr. Chacko while Fr. Varghese released the CD ‘Jesus and I’.
Earlier, the chief guest enthroned the Bible while the scripture was read by Rev. Fr. Chacko, parish priest, Holy Cross Church Dimapur and welcome address was delivered by Fr. RR Graviour Augustine.
It may be mentioned that Pope Benedict XVI had announced a special jubilee year dedicated to St. Paul from June 28, 2008, to June 29, 2009, to mark the approximately 2,000th anniversary of the saint’s birth. The exhibition would continue today to enable many including school and college going children learn about the event.
