A team of 30 Youth Congress leaders comprising of Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress office bearers and District Youth Congress presidents/secretaries attended North Eastern states Youth Congress meet organized by Indian Youth Congress on July 18 at Sarusajal Sdadium, Guwahati.
Launching the Aam Admi Ka Sipahi in the North East Region, General Secretary, AICC and in charge of Youth Congress Rahul Gandhi said that congregation comprising the young Members of Parliament (MPs) would soon meet for a threadbare discussion to review the implementation status of the NREGA.
The ministry responsible for implementation of NREGA will soon conduct a session of all young MPs on NREGA. Dwelling on AAKS Gandhi said it was aimed at bringing the political workers closer to the common man and to work for rural poor and downtrodden and those who were not aware of their rights. Referring to what he had experienced in the last five years of his joining politics Gandhi said that he had seen the door of politics remain more or less closed for the common people, therefore, AAKS programme was aimed at changing the trend.
A press release issued by NPYC general secretary (Admn) Mhonchumo Ovung and vice president Bendang Pongner stated that Rahul Gandhi had heart to heart interaction with youth congress leaders from North Eastern state. In the interactive session, seeing the youth congress leaders from Nagaland seating at the back row, Rahul Gandhi quickly reacted and questioned why should Nagaland be at the back row? He saisd Nagaland should be always on the front and called upon youth leaders to come and seat on the front.
The youth congress leaders from different state raised the issues of lack of development, corruptions, the current drought situations in the hill states of NE region, according special package for development of NE region etc. Responding to the request of the youth congress leaders Gandhi assured that he will do the needful.
Upon invitation by NPYC to visit Nagaland, Rahul Gandhi accepted it and said “I will definitely visit Nagaland” and expressing his love and concern for Nagaland.
