Police rescue ‘abducted’ lady

Dimapur police rescued a 25-year-old lady from Hotel Taj, Blue Hill Station, within five hours of her alleged abduction by one NSCN (K) activist identified as one “sgt” Ayetho Sumi (25), a resident of Niuland, July 21 at around 11:45 p.m. According to police, she was abducted from Hazi Park. Police sources said the victim’s father had lodged a compliant at the police station around 11 p.m. that night. Subsequently, the police acting on a tip-off conducted raid and rescued the victim from the hotel. The accused physically assaulted the lady, police said adding on questioning, the accused confessed to his crime. It was reported that the lady had arrived from Shillong to meet her child.
