Pfutsero Town Council and EE, PWD (R & B) Pfutsero has said that though it had appealed the BRO authorities to take up improvement / strengthening works along the National Highway 150 falling under Pfutsero Sub-Division, their pleas had fallen in to deaf ears and no action were taken so far by the BRO. Due to innumerable complaints received from the general Public, Dingulo Khutsoh, Chairperson, Pfutsero Town Council, Er. Sungtiba Amer, EE, PWD (R & B) Pfutsero and his Staff visited Km 65 to Km 68 of National Highway 150 being maintained by the BRO. According to a press note issued by Senewelo Mero office secretary Pfutsero Town Council, during their visit cum inspection of the NH-150 on July 23, a serious malpractice was detected and verified at location km 67.6 pertaining to construction of one metre Span RCC Culvert. The press note further stated that BRO staff were getting ready to cast the slab with expired cement, stone dust and substandard aggregates, CRSM abutment walls for slabs were constructed using stone dust instead of Deopani sand and reinforcement for slabs were all cut to pieces 16 mm dia. and 8 mm dia. for distribution bars. The Chairperson, PTC has asked the BRO staff to stop the works immediately till corrective measures were taken. Further, most of the stretches of the NH- 150 are waterlogged with gaping potholes with side drainage thus posing danger for driving. The press note stated that PTC has taken a very serious view about the use of spurious and sub-standard materials for maintenance of the Nation Highway-150 by the BRO, completely disregarding the safety of Commuters. Further, PTC has expressed it gratitude to Er. Sungtiba Amer, EE, PWD (R & B) Pfutsero and his staff for their initiative and technical guidance during the visit cum inspection.
