As part of the program on Micro-credit and sustainable livelihood Nagaland Development outreach organized training for 12 Self Help Groups from Peren district. The training was conducted from July 13 to 19 and facilitated by Rural Resource Training Center (RRTC), Umran, Meghalaya.
35 SHG members attended the program and were also awarded certificate on completion of the training. The training focused on entrepreneurship, livestock management, food processing, and mushroom cultivation. The objective of the training was to train in mushroom cultivation, types of mushroom, importance of mushroom and nutritive value of mushroom etc, food preservation and preparation, preparation of jam, jelly, squash, RTS, varieties of pickles, pure juice, spices, packaging and labeling of food products, health care of animals, housing, diseases and their prevention and record keeping. Director, NDO Dr. Hukashe Zhimomi in a press release stated that the training was the first batch of the series of training to be conducted for SHG members at RRTC. Director informed that Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO) is working in Nagaland State dedicated to the development of disadvantaged groups, especially rural men and women. The organization follows an integrated approach to address the challenges of poverty and underdevelopment and aims to build self-reliance of disadvantaged groups by alleviating poverty through sustained income generation programmes.
