Some women police personnel along with home guard traffic personnel were assaulted on Tuesday by a woman, claiming to be Tatar (MLA) of NSCN/GPRN.
According to the home guard personnel, who was assaulted, the accused in a Maruti 800, entered from Eros lane, towards deluxe point, where there was a “No Entry”. While on asking her to stop the vehicle, the accused climbed out, slapped the home guard and pulled him up by his collar in front of public. It was reported that the flying squad stationed nearby tried to diffuse the situation however the accused claimed to be an official from NSCN/GPRN and warned them of dire consequences.
Meanwhile on sensing the situation, women police personnel from women cell rushed to spot. However, the accused even assaulted some members of the women police. She was later arrested and taken to the women cell. Later on inquiring about the incident, Women Cell in-charge refused to divulge any information and stated that the case has been a compromise between the two parties. However, she expressed unhappiness that in spite of the women personnel being assaulted a compromise has been reached while Additional SP V Z Angami stated that the accused had violated the traffic rules and needed to be reprimanded.
