The Office of the Superintending Engineer, Dimapur Electrical Circle has warned that it will be conducting raids in coordination with the administration and law and order department to check theft of power. A release issued by the Department of Power stated that in order to avoid heavy penalties as per Indian Electricity act 2003 part XIV thereof 135(1), (a), (b), (c), where defaulters are punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or fine or with both if caught during raids, they are advised to desist from such activities and apply for proper service connections beforehand. It also requested co-operation from the NGOs and general public in this regard as hooking and pilferage of meters cause hardship to the department and its esteemed customers.
