Power dept. condemns KSU rampage

The department of power has condemned the action of Konyak Students Union, Mon on July 22 where due to power failure during the ENSF session, students went on rampage and damaged the buildings and furniture of SDO (E) and EE (E)’s office, besides burning files and documents. Chief engineer, department of power Kohima in a press release mentioned that power supply to Mon district was disrupted from 10 a.m on July 20 due to major breakdown in the 66KV EHV transmission line between Tuli and Naginimora which emanated from 132 KV sub-station Mokokchung under the jurisdiction of Mokokchung transmission division. The release stated that executive engineer (electrical) Mon took proactive role in coordinating with executive engineer (transmission) Mokokchung for restoration of power to Mon on July 22 at 6 p.m. Terming the action of KSU as “unjustified and uncalled for”, the Chief engineer stated that officer and staff who area engaged in high risks duty are sincere and devoted to the call of duty in maintaining essential service to the people.
