New wages for labourers in M’laya

The Meghalaya government on Thursday enhanced minimum wages of various categories of daily wage labourers in the state. The cabinet decided to increase the rate of minimum wages for unskilled, semi skilled and skilled labour to Rs 100, 120 and Rs 140 respectively, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Finance Mukul M Sangma told reporters after the Cabinet meeting. He also announced that the wages would be revised every three years from now on. During the President’s rule, Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary had enhanced the minimum wages for unskilled, semi skilled and skilled labour as Rs 100, 110 and Rs 125 respectively. The previous wage was Rs. 70, 75 and 85 for unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers respectively.
