Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated Commissioner’s Rest House situated at DC Hill, Mokokchung. The sanction for the building was done in the year 2004-05 and the work was completed in 2008, however, the inauguration of the rest house was kept for an opportune time. Chief Minister, accompanied by a host of his ministerial colleagues besides senior bureaucrats of the state, inaugurated the rest house. In his speech, Rio said though the inauguration was small in a way, it was a significant one and an important landmark for Mokokchung. He further added that Mokokchung town being one of the important towns in the state; it needed a lot of proper infrastructure. The Chief Minister also encouraged young entrepreneurs to foray into hospitality sectors. He encouraged people to open hotels, paying guests and other amenities as the state has a shortage in accommodations. He further added that if such amenities were provided properly there will be more inflow of tourist to the state. Chief Minister also stressed on quality control in any infrastructure development and called upon the people to maintain quality control. He added that if quality control is not maintained it would only be a liability rather than an asset. He also called upon all to utilize the building in a proper manner so that it will serve the purpose of the building.
