Agricultural Students’ Association of Nagaland (ASAN) along with students of School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASRD) took up a plantation drive on the theme “Combating global warming through better agriculture” along the campus, on Saturday morning. Dean, SASRD, Prof. D P Sharma graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The students planted nearly five hundred saplings which were provided by the Land Resource department.
The Professor in his speech enlightened the students about the importance of planting the saplings and also urged them to nurture it properly.
ASAN was formed in the year 1974 with present Director, Agriculture, Supong Keitzar as the first general secretary. President, ASAN, Mhasikhotuo Mere informed that the association was formed with the aim of fostering the spirit of unity, cooperation and disseminate scientific method of temper. The list of alumni includes even parliamentary secretary Social Welfare, Child & Women Development Chotisuh Sazo and host of other Agri and allied officers.
President, ASAN, also informed that the annual conference of ASAN would be held on from August 28-29.
