: The students of B.A. II, Modern College, went on an educational tour to Khezhakeno Village, Phek District, on the July 28.
On reaching the village, the students were welcomed by the village council chairman, Gaon Buras and the elders of the village and had discussion and interaction hour at the Village Panchayat Hall. During the discussion hour, the village elders gave a brief report on the origin and migration of the Nagas. They also narrated the story of the Fetish stones where doubts and confusions of the students were made clear by the elders.
The students were also taken on a guided tour Mezeko, V.D.B. Secretary of Khezhakeno, to various important places and historical sites of the village. The places visited the place where the village head makes important announcements for gennah, festivals, ‘love charm’ preserved inside a hut, legendary pond of the village also known as the ‘Sea-Nose Pond’, which never dries up and the ‘Spirited Stone’ or the ‘Magic Stone’ believed to increase the yield of paddy.
After visiting these historical sites, the students were then taken to a lake called the “Lowho Lake”, which is about an hour walk away from the village.
The students of Modern College further extended gratitude to the college authority for bearing their travel expenses, Mezekozo, the guide and the Khezhakeno villagers, and lecturers Dr. Kenilo Kath, Adani, Seyieneinuo and Thozono, for accompanying them.
