Former chief minister and Congress legislator K.L.Chishi has said that Nagaland home minister Imkong L.Imchen, while defending the DAN government’s policy of roping in NGOs to assist in maintenance of law and order, had gone beyond his brief in attacking his personal character. It may be mentioned that Imchen had castigated Chishi for “suffering from superiority complex” . When asked for his comment, Chishi said “it is regrettable, that Imkong Imchen had reacted with immaturity to my humble opinion of disagreeing with the DAN’s policy of roping in NGOs for assistance in the maintenance of law and order and peace”. Chishi said he made the statement as an elected member in the larger interest of the state and it was nothing personal. Further he retorted “Imkong suffers from an illusion as he knows not that he knows not but doesn’t seem to know. As a minister of a responsible portfolio, he should talk sense instead of being so immature”. He reminded Imkong L.Imchen that as a minister at the helm of affairs, the latter must realise the consequences of diluting the official obligations and functioning of law enforcement agencies no matter what the other driving force was. He also said there were many skeletons in DAN’s cupboard and therefore, disagreed that the situation was better off today. He said both the chief minister and the home minister should clearly draw a line between what is government and what is political party, on a sensitive issue.
