The celebrations and festivities of Tsungremong continued Monday as various groups and clubs and villages made programs for the celebration of the festival.
At Mokokchung village, the Aosungkum Cultural Club organized the Tsungremong 2009 sponsored by the ‘Riongsanger Putu Menden’ at the club’s complex. The celebration was graced by T. Lima Kichu former MMC advisory board member as the chief guest. The chief guest while talking about the perseverance of culture said that a nation in order to prosper should inculcate the good nature of culture. He added that this should be followed by truth and honesty for a nation to prosper. Lima also said that one’s culture should be deeply rooted so that one can live in harmony with others. The chief guest was vocal in saying that culture could be the best gift for the self, for the society as well as the nation.
The chief guest while focusing on how the village was blessed in many ways attributed all the blessings to the unity of the villagers and called upon all to keep up the good spirit of unity amongst the villagers. Giving a clarion call to the villagers to continue to share the bond of love through the celebration of this festival, the chief guest urged all to maintain the good spirit of brotherhood, unity and love so that the village will prosper more.
Earlier in the program, various cultural songs and dances were performed including “Lata malu” song and dance by the Aotemsu & Lipoktemjen zungar, Testur Amen Ken (Nokchu) by Watsu Unit Mokokchung village and ‘Ar Malu’ by the students. The significance of Tsungremong was given by Council chairman L. Longri Longkumer while exhortation was delivered by Imtiwabang Tatar. Later after the program, cultural competition was held in various categories.
