Failure to restore Khudei-Noksen road, which has been blocked since June 13 last due to landslide, has caused resentment among the residents of Bhumpak village and Noksen sub-division at large. Delay in restoration of the road compelled the villagers to clear a small part of the blockade to passage of light vehicles. However, the public of the rural area continue to face several difficulties in transportation and meeting socio-economic needs because of road blockade. Bhumpak Village Council (BVC) chairman, B Chongshi and head GB, N Chingmak expressing resentment at Executive Engineer Road and Bridges department, Tuensang have alleged that the department remained as a mute spectator even as the people of Bhumpak village and Noksen sub-division were completely cut-off from the rest of the world due to heavy landslide. Questioning the attitude of Executive Engineer, the BVC said that even after several complaints and appeal by public and various organizations, the department have turned deaf ear to their plea. The BVC has cautioned that they would no longer tolerate such “step- motherly” treatment to the people of far-flung areas by the departments and the government. Earlier, the Sangyuchung Range Union (SRU) had lamented that though the road was more than two decades old so far there has not been any sign of improvement from authorities. The union had also urged the state government for an early solution to the blocked road in the interest of general public and in order to create a congenial and peaceful environment between people and government.
