A twelve-hour ‘chakka bandh’ has been called by the All India Road Transport Workers Federation in Guwahati area on July 13 from dawn to dusk. The bandh has been called in protest against the fake encounter killing of a truck driver and the handyman by the PSO of a police officer on July 9 at Lokhra in Guwahati. It may be mentioned that two youth, including one from Lang Umshein near Shahlang, West Khasi Hills, were gunned down by the personal security officer (PSO) of a senior Assam Police official in Guwahati on Thursday night. The deceased young man from Lang Umshein was identified as Shaing Langrin, the handyman of a truck. The other youth killed by the PSO was Krishna Kumar Barman, driver of the truck. He hailed from Tripura.
