Despite the government’s manifestation to ensure transparency in its governance by providing information on various activities through introduction of e-governance, under the department of Information Technology and Technical Education Nagaland, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Tuensang has been running without District Information Officers (DIO) for the past five years reportedly unattended leaving the administration works and office works. NIC has also demanded for immediate posting of the said DIO in the district for the welfare of the general public. According to sources, at present two Field System Engineer (FSE) have been covering all the works of the government informatics service.
NIC has been installed in all districts of Nagaland and some districts has two DIOs each whereas, some remote district like Tuensang have been facing inconvenience in the absence of a single DIO with the government works kept on pending.
The NIC being the only center where information on various government activities is being provided down to the grass root level and the rural masses which have been largely benefited through the center is unbecoming on the part of the government on the ill treatment meted out to the NIC Tuensang.
