Re-union of 1980 Subroto winning team
Kohima, Jul 14 (NPN): The re-union of 1980 Subroto Cup football winning team under-17 from the state would be held July 18 at 3 at Khouchieze Hotel, near local ground, Kohima, opposite NSF office, Kohima. Open badminton championship
Dimapur, Jul 14 (NPN): The 33rd Inter-District and State open Badminton Championship 2009, hosted by Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA) would commence from July 21 to 24 at Kohima. According to joint secretary NBA, Tali Jamir around 300 participants from 11 districts have been expected in the championship. Meanwhile, the association has informed all district associations to send two representatives to attend the annual general meeting on July 23 at 1pm. Election for new office bearers for the next tenure will he conducted in the meeting, the release stated.
Super six softball cricket tourney
Kohima, Jul 14 (NPN): The 1st super six soft ball cricket tournament 2009, organized by Local Boys Club would commence from July 17 to 19 at local ground, Kohima. According to the organizer, the matches played in the format six players and six overs. Indian team returns with Wrestling medals
New Delhi, Jul 14 (ANI): The Indian team returned home on Tuesday after winning 14 medals at the three-day junior Asian Wrestling Championship in Manila.he team arrived at the international airport here this morning. Raj Singh, vice president, Wrestling Federation of India, who accompanied the team, said that this was the teams’ best performance at the Asian Wrestling Championship. “Its our best performance so far. Before this, we have not won so many medals in the Asian Wrestling Championship, in freestyle, Greco Roman style and Female Junior Wrestling Championship,” said Singh. The participants were also jubilant on their performances. “I am very happy, I have won gold at the Championship. It was a good performance and everyone has done well,” said Navjot Kaur, one of the participants. India collected five gold, four silver and five bronze medals during the three-day competition.
