ANAMA bags 12 medals at IFMA

All Nagaland Amateur Muaythai Association (ANAMA) won five gold and seven silver medals in various categories in the recently concluded 9th IFMA National Muaythai Championship 2009 held at SAI’s Lake Stadium, Kolkata from July 10 to 12. The team was led by Takameren as team manager, Angnyei as coach and Botovi as referee. The overall champion was bagged by Manipur, while Nagaland finished second followed by Assam. The association is also planning to send some selected players to the Thailand for world Muaythai championship to be held from November 26 to December 5, this year. It may be noted that ANAMA is an affiliated member of Northeast and Muaythai Federation of India and affiliated to Nagaland Olympic Association. The ANAMA was also adjudged as the best national Muaythai team in the last concluded 8th IFMA national Muaythai championship held in Delhi 2008. MEDAL WINNERS: Gold: Alfred (Senior-91 kg); Kenneto (junior-63.5 kg); Shahmi (senior-45 kg); Chingtei (senior-60kg) and Hukavi (senior-54kg) Silver: Pongshe (sub junior-40kg); Taongyei (sub junior-45 kg); Manyum (junior-48kg); Athalu (junior-51 kg); Thappa (senior-51 kg); Ngamsang (junior-54 kg); Honton (senior- 60 kg).
