MSUD, CSUD register wins

Moa Students’ Union Dimapur (MSUD) and Chakhesang Students’ Union Dimapur (CSUD) opened their campaign on a high note with both teams registering an easy victory in the opening day of the four-day Dimapur Tenyimi Students’ Units Officials Football Meet ’09, at Greenwood Higher Secondary School, here Wednesday. MSUD blanked Kuda (Angami) Students’ Union Dimapur by 6-0 while in the second match CSUD thrashed Poumai Students’ Union Dimapur by 4-0. Hosted by Kuda (Angami) Angami Students’ Union Dimapur the tournament is being held on the theme “unity through sports”. All the nine units of Tenyimi affiliated to Tenyimi Students Union Dimapur namely; Angami, Chakhesang, Rengma, Rongmei, Zeliang, Mao, Poumai, Pochury and Inpui are taking part in the tournament. State DGP, K. Kire who was supposed to graced the occasion could not turned up due to official engagements and in his absence the tournament was graced by Additional Director General of Police, G.K. Rengma. Unfurling the tournament flag, Rengma urged the gathering to revive unity among the Nagas through this kind of sporting events. According to him to bring unity, many activities had been organized and this kind of sporting activity will have a bigger impact as it draws people from various sections in regard of castes, colour and sex. He later in declared the tournament opened. Naga Council, president, Savi Legise; president Angami Public Organization, Khiengulie Linyü; principal Greenwood HSS, Asa Khate and officials from DNSU and DLSU were also present on the inaugural function.
