Kohima police personnel manning Khuzama check gate detected a stolen Bolero while proceeding towards Imphal and arrested three persons in this connection during the wee hour of Wednesday.
According to police, personnel manning Khuzama check gate on suspicion stopped a dark green Bolero bearing registration No. MN-01K-7626. On thorough checking of the Chassis number and Engine number, it was found to be a stolen vehicle with fake registration number. Police also recovered fake registration documents from their passion. Immediately, the three occupants identified as Zion Pamai (20) son of John Pamai hailing from Jaluki, Johnjit (26), son of Ibohol Singh of Sangamei Imphal and Amrit Sharma (30), son of B.G Sharma of Changkham Lakai Imphal were arrested by the police and booked under section 379 IPC.
Later, it was found out that Bolero whose original registration number was NL-10-6532 and attached with State Health and Family Welfare Minister was stolen from Forest Colony on the night of July 13.
It was learnt that one of the arrested Amrit Sharma claimed that he had purchased the vehicle at Dimapur and was on their way to Imphal while they were detected and arrested today.
Meanwhile, the owner of the vehicle Besupra Swuro P.S to Minister Health and Family Welfare in a press release has lauded the police personnel especially SDPO Kohima, OC and his subordinate officers and Jawans of South Police Station Kohima and all rank and files of police personnel manning the outpost gate at Khuzama for the prompt action in recovering the vehicle. Swuro prayed that God would bless them abundantly and the authorities recognize their good deeds. He also extended gratitude to all his friends for extending help morally, physically and with prayer through out the ‘tense period’.
