The Election Commission EC has directed the election officials in Arunachal Pradesh to prepare defect-free electoral rolls for the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state due in October. According to UNI report, deputy election commissioner Alok Shukla, in a meeting with election officials at Tawang yesterday, appealed to District Election Officers (DEOs) and Election Returning Officers (EROs) for proper analysis of the electors relating to population ratio, gender and decadal growth rate of population during the last census, official sources said here today. He emphasised involving the political parties in the matter by convening regular meetings with them and urging them to appoint booth-level assistants. Dr Shukla also suggested for proper training of EROs and assistant EROs, including booth-level officers in the polling stations. ‘’A complaint monitoring system should be introduced at the level of EROs and AEROs so that any complaint received from the electors or political parties are disposed on time and proper record maintained,’’ he added. While discussing about conduct of election, he emphasised on proper planning in respect of movement of polling parties, communication and use of videos and digital cameras for ensuring free and fair election, sources added.
