Seeking to enhance its VAS offerings, Nokia is gearing up to launch online music content download store to offer music content download services across India. Nokia is planning to launch its online music content download store by the end of this year. Nokia has started testing its online music store in India, which will offer music download service initially to customers purchasing Nokia products. The service will be offered in form of vouchers issued to customers at the time of buying handsets and other equipment from Nokia. Nokia has tied up with several top music labels for its online music content download store. The beta site of online music content download store currently features music from the music labels, such as T-Series, Times Music, and Universal Music India. On its India music store site, Nokia uses Microsoft DRM (digital rights management) technology. Nokia’s online music content download service will be available after Nokia’s joint venture with Indian partner, HCL Infosystems, which will start handling the online payments.
