Ganja seized in Phek, Kohima

Phek excise team after specific information intercepted a Tata Mobile (MN05-A/1272) coming from Zhamai road towards NH 150 (Pfutsero) and arrested three persons for carrying Ganja. The contraband was well packed and approximately 1000 kgs. The arrested were identified as Tennyson (35) son of Panyu, David (29) son of Jacob and Asho Dasou (22) son of Sunai Dasou, all residents of Phaibung village of Senapati district, Manipur. However, the main accused Sikhu is said to be absconding. The ganja was estimated to be worth about Rs. 4,50,000,00 in the international market. All accused has been booked under relevant section and forwarded to judicial custody. Meanwhile, in another report, Kohima Police recovered an abandoned black Bolero and recovered large quantity of contraband Ganja at Zubza during the wee hours on Thursday. According to police, the suspicious black Bolero bearing registration No. NL-02C 4013 proceeding towards Dimapur was given a hot chase by the police, however the police lost track of the vehicle and on enquiry learnt the Bolero was seen proceeding towards an approach Kacha road connecting NH-39 at Zubza. On inspection, police team found the vehicle left abandoned on the same approach road and recovered 41 different packages of contraband ganja weighing about 350 Kgs from inside the abandoned vehicle. A case has been registered and investigation on, while the police was yet to track down the owner of the vehicle or arrest any person in this connection till the time of filing this report.
