Municipals trained on ‘accrual accounting’

A two day training programme was conducted on August 20 and 21 from Circuit House, Kohima for officials of Kohima and Dimapur Municipal Council on the theme ‘Municipal Administration & Accrual Accounting’. At the inaugural function, Chairman KMC Vipopal Kintso proposed welcome address followed by a short speech by Satish Kumar Garg, Senior Deputy A.G Nagaland. Training was formally inaugurated by C A.Subodh Kumar Agrawal, Chairman Committee on Public Finance –Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi. In his keynote he emphasised on benefits and advantages of introducing accrual system of accounting in urban local bodies in the country and said it was a scientific accounting, which was appreciated world wide. Earlier chairperson KMC lauded the efforts of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi for coming forward when approached by him during his recent visit to New Delhi for conducting the training in Kohima, especially for municipal councils. Guest faculty for two day training were Atanusasan Mukhopadhyay, FCA,WBA & AS Municipal Finance Expert under M.A. Department, Government of West Bengal and Jayanta Kumar Chakrabarti, Master of Science in Management & Technology from Wales University, UK, who is a renowned Organizational Development & Design Expert for the local urban bodies. Altogether, 25 members from both municipals attended the training.
