In a sharp rebuttal to the charge leveled by the NSCN(I-M) that the ‘GPRN/NSCN’ was having a close association with one Azad, the MIP of the ‘GPRN/NSCN’ Friday said it was “extremely unfortunate on the part of Muivah’s men to drag in GPRN/NSCN’s name while responding to state chief minister.” The NSCN (I-M) had alleged that Azad was a close associate of rival faction, who had even gone to the extent of launching joint operation with the “Khehoi Campers against NSCN.” “The claim of Azad alias Robin, Kabir alias Abdul being from designated camp Khehoi is a figment of imagination,” said a release issued by MIP GPRN/NSCN. It added that “It is sheer stupidity to point accusing fingers at GPRN/NSCN for terrorist activities when facts and figures clearly points to Hebron Camp”. The MIP statement said Azad alias Robin, has for some years engrossed himself in “anti-social activities of Hebron Camp”. It also said that Azad was enrolled in the Civil wing and worked in the ministry of “so-called Forest & Envoirnment Ministry (FEM) of Hebron Camp.” The GPRN/NSCN asserted that it had nothing to do with Azad alias Robin. Contesting the charge of the NSCN(I-M) that Azad was killed by Indian security forces in Imphal “for the reason best known to all”, the GPRN/NSCN said Azad alias Robin alias Abdul alias Kabir was now actively involved in extorting Telecom Departmemnts, stalling contractual works and also involved in collection spree in Dimapur New Market area “under the patronage of certain individuals at Hebron Camp.” (Full text on page-4)
