State awaits H1N1 swab test results

Results of nine swab tests for H1N1 for swine flu were awaited, with one more sample collected on Friday in Dimapur. Out of these, eight samples have been sent to RMCR, Dibrugrah where each test takes around twelve hours in comparison to 48 hours in the NICD. Two samples were sent on August 4 and 5 respectively to NICD, Delh of which one was tested negative and the report of the other still awaited. Five samples were dispatched on August 19,two on August 20 and one on Friday to the RMCR, Dibrugarh. According to state Nodal Officer, Dr Kevichusa, three sample collection centres have been established- Naga hospital, Kohima, Dimapur Civil hospital and Imkongliba Memorial hospital Mokokchung respectively. On entry points like the airport and railway station, Dr Kevichusa said a team of doctors would be deployed at the airport in a separate screening room for persons suspected of infection. Embarkment cards will be given to passengers to fill up details of location of place, contact numbers and address . He also admitted that the facilities were limited in the Civil Hospital. Dr Kevichusa also appealed to public not to panic about H1N1 and assured that the department was geared up to tackle the disease. Meanwhile, District Malarial Officer (DMO), Dimapur, Dr Imcha, informed that cases of Japanese Encephalitis have gone down, with no new reports.
