One more H1N1 case in Meghalaya

A 22-year-old student was Monday tested positive of H1NI virus taking the total number of those affected by the virus in Meghalaya to six, a health official said. William Lyngdoh, a student who went to Bangalore for admission on August 17 after his return here tested positive for the H1N1 virus, director health service, Dr KH Lakiang said. Initially, hospital authorities administered Chemoprophylaxis as a precautionary measure, including his family members. Lyngdoh is being treated in isolation at his residence near Lower Mawprem here. “The family members of Lyngdoh have been instructed to maintain the regulatory health guidelines for ten days,” Dr Lakiang said.The first case was detected on a Meghalayan footballer Salvit Tongper. He has been released after being found fit and healthy. The other persons who contracted the virus included: Dolshelsius Syiemlieh, Mariabiang Latang, Joshua Lyngdoh and Rodrigue Lyngdoh. The state so far has sent swab samples of 32 suspected cases. Out of that six so far has tested positive. Results of three samples were awaited, while the others turned negative.
