Irate students of Sao Chang Government College, Tuensang on Tuesday locked their principal’s office after he allegedly failed to turn up to the college on specified time and declaring holiday for two days ahead of the college general election. The students have also demanded immediate transfer of the principal. According to sources, the college general election was scheduled to be held on August 27 but the principal declared holiday for two days – August 25 and 26 when the students were busy for the nomination and common platform in the college. Earlier, in the afternoon, the disgruntled students also protested against the principal’s alleged “irregularity and irresponsibility” many times in the past pasted pamphlet around the town some of which read, “Wake up! Wake up! Working days principal Sao Chang College,” “Oh principal Sao Chang College, where is your office? Have you lost your key,” “Sao Chang College is not a film studio; we need principal, not film director in the college,” “We want your resignation, principal Sao Chang College, go back.” Talking to Nagaland Post, the student leaders claimed that declaring holiday for two days from Kohima had resulted in a “major problem” for the students as preparations for the election and other college activities were in full swing. The students strongly demanded immediate transfer of the principal and posting of a new principal in the college for the welfare of the student community in particular and public in general.
