Central institute of Horticulture (CIH), department of agriculture and cooperation, ministry of Agriculture, government of India organized a days farmers’ training on “Improved Production of Fruit Crops” at SHN, 4th Mile, Dimapur on August 25.
The programme commenced with a brief opening remark by Dr. Akali Sema, director, CIH who highlighted about the training and said that the main objective of the training was to refresh the knowledge of the farmers in production of various fruit crops.
She further urged upon for participation of more women being the key players in implementing improved technology learned from the training to “field condition”.
The first day of the technical session on the improved production technology of Citrus and pineapple was delivered by Dr. C. S. Maiti, lecturer, department of horticulture, SASRD, Medziphema.
Pest and Disease management on citrus and pineapple was delivered by Prof. Alemla Ao, department of entomology and Dr. Tiameren, department of plant pathology, SASRD, Medziphema.
Participating farmers were then taken for field visit at Padumpukhuri, Dimapur. Alltogether 57 farmers from in and around Dimapur attended the said programme.
