Population Foundation of India (PFI) Nagaland ‘state level exposition’ programme from August 25 to 26 began on Tuesday at Town Hall Dimapur with support from the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society and Naga Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (NNP+) under the theme “Empowering People, Strengthening Networks”. Participants from all the district level networks (DLNs), Positive Living Centre (PLC) and Community Care Centre (CCC) of Nagaland are participating in the programme.
The exposition was inaugurated by Dr. Neiphi Kire, project director, NSACS, who was the chief guest and Vini Kezo, TSC in charge, Dimapur was as chairperson.
Dr. Kire in his speech committed to support Access to Care and Treatment programme in Nagaland. He congratulated the PLHIVs for declaring their status for helping in promoting other PLHIVs to come forward into the main stream of services and start seeking care, support and treatment services.
Dr. Kire also added that, all PLHIVs must enroll themselves in DLN for health seeking habits and lead exemplary lives in the society.
Bijit Roy, senior programme associate, PFI Delhi gave an overview of PFI programs in India. He said there were more than 200 DLNs India which played an important role in mobilizing collectives People Living with HIV and AIDS to support the national care, support and treatment, especially strengthening psychosocial support and treatment literacy.
He shared that only 49% of PLHIV have been enrolled for services in India, and stressed on need for early identification and strengthening of outreach for maintaining optimal adherence of PLHIV initiated on ARV.
T.A.P Paul, Deputy Manager and Mazumder, manager-development banking division from the State Bank of India facilitated a session on how PLHIV could access banking, insurance and loan facilities from banks.
Dr. Victoria Seb Khing, medical officer, ART center, Dimapur took a session on Basics of ART Treatment, OIs & STIs and Dr. Khing highlighted the inception of HIV and the basics of HIV and AIDS.
The DLNs further presented and update on the program and shared initiatives from various districts of Nagaland.
