Spark (A) lift inter-club c’ship

Spark CC (A) defeated Spark CC by 24 runs to lift the 2nd inter-club cricket tournament organized by Dimapur District Cricket Association (DDCA) played at DDSC Stadium, here Thursday. Deepak Sinah of Spark CC (A) shone with the bat and ball to lead his team to stunning victory in a rain affected final match after the 30 overs match was reduced to 15 overs a side. He scored a superb 44 runs to take his team to a respectable total of 94 runs for five in the allotted overs. He also claimed four wickets while bowling. Hokaito and Aosashi claimed two wickets each for Spark CC. In reply, Spark CC could manage to score only 70runs in 14.4 overs with Aosashi and Bappa reaching the double figures mark. Dipak Sinah was named the man of the final match. The champions’ team walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, while the runners-up receive Rs. 5,000 sponsored by SBI evening branch, Dimpaur. The man of the series was bagged by Along of Spark CC, who received Rs. 2000 sponsored by DDCA. Altogether 12 teams took part in the week long tournament. Earlier, in the morning an exhibition under-14 match between Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) and Dimapur District Cricket Association (DDCA) was called off due to rain by the umpires. Later, ADC Dimapur, Sedevikho Khro gracing the closing ceremony as guest encouraged the players to utilized their talent fully in order to compete in national and international level. Admitting that game of cricket was in its initial stage in the state, he appealed the youngsters to develop the game in the state. He pointed out that it was only though youngsters that sports scenario in the state will be developed. He also gave away the prizes to the winners and umpires. Meanwhile, a lucky draw organized by DDCA to draw spectators in two categories; donors card-Rs. 100 and gallery-Rs. 20 for the final match was drawn in the presence of the spectators and officials by the chief guest. The lucky winner for donors’ card went to serial number-56 and for gallery serial number 900 was picked as the luck winner. The winners have been informed to collect their prizes from DDCA office room number 9 at DDSC Stadium before three days.
