Lalthara exhorts APEN conference

General conference of Association of Power Engineers Nagaland (APEN) was held on August 27 with Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Lalthara IAS as chief guest. Addressing the gathering at the conference hall of the Chief Engineers, Power Lalthara called upon engineers to dedicate their services to service of the people. He urged the engineers that they should always stick to quality control with good supervision in the developmental works. He said power energy was very essential for human existence, adding that the newly created Renewable Energy Department should concentrate on how to produce more energy. He said the engineers (Power) would manage the NRE department except for the Secretaries and Ministers. He said that being a mere graduate in engineering is not enough or sufficient and encouraged them to specialize in different fields like hydro energy etc. to produce more power energy as power requirement and consumption is very high. He added that the government will be ready to give support through financial aid at any cost if an engineer wants to go in for new areas of specialization. He also said that to maintain quality control in the developmental works in future the contractor should also be mindful of the technical aspects as there are engineers to assist. The Chief Secretary apprised the APEN that the MoU suggestion submitted by them will be looked into. Commissioner and Secretary, Power, R. Binchilo Thong, IAS who gave a short speech said the department needed expansion to transmit power sufficiently. He also felt that Chief Secretary will give more importance on power sector and will examine its demand positively. Others who spoke at the function were Chief Engineer (Power), Er. D. Basumatari; Chief Electrical Inspector, Er. K.T. Wabang Ao and also President FONESSA. Vote of thanks was pronounced by APEN Executive Member, Er. Moa Aier.
