The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee and State unit of the Trinamool Congress separately urged the state government to take action against the former CPI(M) ministers family for torturing their daughter-in-law at Udaipur residence in the South district. According to party sources, a six-member delegation of the Congress Legislature party led by Opposition leader Ratan Lal Nath yesterday met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar here and pressed for action against those responsible for the torturing Keshab Majumdars daughter-in-law. According to UNI report, the Congress party took out a procession yesterday at the South district headquarters of Udaipur demanding punishment for those responsible for torturing Rama Majumder, an employee of Regional Pharmacist Institute. The Trinamool Congress in a press release here today termed the incident as barberic and called for action. However, the mouthpiece of ruling CPI (M) Daily Desher Katha’ today claimed that the Congress party was politicising the issue. A delegation of the state Women Commission led by the Chairperson visited the residence of Majumder and inquired about the incident. But interestingly, the tortured wife, her mother and brother reportedly told the commission that the incident was fully a family matter and nothing such happened for complaining to the women Commission, the paper added.
